Three Lights

You are the light of the world…

If salt is my character and covenant, then light is my garment of influence.
It is what I bring to the world.

But I cannot light myself.
Jesus, the one and only Light of the world, is my flint, my flame.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

When it’s biting hard on a frigid March night and you open the door to the church wondering who will come to pray and, while you’re sitting there with a couple of your friends, you hear footsteps in the entryway…

A stranger comes out of the darkness and looks at you and asks,
“Am I in the right place?”

The stranger had heard
that there might be some help, some comfort,
some understanding in that place.

… city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Perhaps, even Jesus would be there.

So the stranger ran.
Ran toward the light.
Ran toward the city on the hill
because in that place were
three men, three lights,
who had said yes to Jesus.

  • My influence and visibility is a result of who lives in me, not because of what I do. It is God who puts me in a place of influence and visibility.- Rick Warren

  1. What a great thought..we don’t have to turn our light on,,,we just have to love Jesus and go where He leads..the Light never goes just waits for the darkness to show up.
