Fat Tuesday Confession

Epiphany has come to a close.
The season when Jesus steps outside the confines of religion and His divinity is manifested to those outside the inner circle.

Epiphany gives way to Shrove Tuesday, a day when fat gives way to ashes.
Shrove coming from “shrive”, meaning confession.

Confession of abundance taken for granted.
Confession of blindness to the poverty of others.
Confession, that without God, I am the one impoverished.

So begins a journey into Lent, the “lengthening of days.”
So begins a journey of reflection and confession on my way to Spring.
